Mahatma Gandhi College Kicks Off New UG Courses, Vanamahotsavam, and Anti-Drug Drive
On July 1, 2025, Mahatma Gandhi College in Thiruvananthapuram hosted several significant events. These included the inauguration of the Four-Year Undergraduate Programs (FYUGP), the district-level launch of the Kerala State Forest Department's Social Vanamahotsavam program, and the initiation of an Anti-Drug Awareness Collective.
The formal inauguration of these programs was carried out by Shri M. Sangeeth Kumar, who serves as both the Vice President of the Nair Service Society and the President of the Thiruvananthapuram Taluk Union. The event was presided over by College Principal Dr. V.M. Anandakumar, with Program Co-ordinator Dr. Manoj G.S. delivering the welcome address.
Inaugurations by Dignitaries
During the ceremony, Assistant Forest Conservator Shri Saju S. Nair inaugurated the district-level Vanamahotsavam. Simultaneously, Assistant Excise Commissioner Shri Shibu B.L. officially launched the Anti-Drug Awareness Collective. A notable presence at the event was renowned film actor Shri Sudheer Karamana, who attended as the chief guest and delivered the keynote address.

Expressions of good wishes were shared by several distinguished guests: Shri M. Karthikeyan Nair, who is the Vice President of both the NSS Thiruvananthapuram Taluk Union and the College PTA; Dr. Dileep A.S., the College Council Secretary; Prof. (Dr.) Biju Kumar K., a member of the Kerala University Senate; and Smt. Asha Prabhakaran, a College Council Member. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by IQAC Co-ordinator Professor Chithra V.S.
