Certificate Course in Art Therapy Inaugurated at Department of Psychology

The Department of Psychology inaugurated its Certificate Course in Art Therapy on Friday, 8 August 2025, at 1:00 PM in Room No. 201. The program is conducted by Ms. Sree Renjini P. S., a certified art therapist, and has attracted an enthusiastic enrollment of 32 students.

The inaugural function was graced by Principal Dr. V. M. Ananda Kumar, who officially inaugurated the course. Dr. Pratibha S. Nair extended a warm welcome to the gathering, followed by a felicitation address from Dr. Jayaram B. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Subha Sachithanand.

The Certificate Course, spanning 30 hours, aims to introduce students to the principles and practices of art therapy, integrating creativity with psychological well-being. Through experiential learning and guided activities, the course seeks to enhance participants’ understanding of art as a tool for emotional expression and therapeutic intervention.

The Department expressed optimism that this initiative will empower students with innovative skills applicable in counselling, education, and mental health care
